Then he jumped to his feet. The doctor did not move. He said, Put that knife back in your pocket, or you will hang by the neck . I promise you that." The captain's face was Very red ,but he did not reply .He was much quieter in the evenings after that . Winter came and the weather was cold . My father got worse . The captain continued to stay at the inn , but he did not pay us .I had a lot of work to do . One morning the captain went out early . My mother was busy in my father's room ,and I was coo king the captains breakfast . Suddenly there was a noise outside and a strange man came into the inn .He was a pale, thin man . I saw that there were only two fingers on his left hand . A sword hung at his side. I side , "Can I help you , sir?" "Come here , son , " he replied . "Come near me." I did not like the look of the sword , but I went towards the man. Is the breakfast for my friend Bill? He asked I don't know your friend Bill, sir, I replied. This is the captain's breakfast. I don't know the captain's name, but he lives here. Perhaps he's my friend Bill, the man said. Bill has a long cut on his face and he drinks a lot of rum. He likes a song, too. Is my friend Bill in this house?
