Mohammed's first journey to the north

Once, when the Prophet peace be upon him was nine years old, (As related by authentic Traditions for Quraysh) Abu Talib planned to go on a merchant caravan to Syria. Knowing this, the Prophet peace be upon him approached his uncle, and nestling close to him, insisted on accompanying him in the journey. Abu Talib was moved and agreed to take Muhammed peace be upon him with him to Syria. It was Mohammed's first journey to the north.

ذات مرة عندما كان عمر النبي صلى الله عليه و سلم تسع سنين, و كعادة قريش,أعد أبو طالب للذهاب في تجارة إلى سوريا.و على دراية من ذلك دنا النبي صلى الله عليه و سلم من عمه و أصر على مرافقته في الرحلة.اقتنع أبو طالب ووافق على أخذ محمد صلى الله عليه و سلم معه إلى سوريا و قد كانت رحلة محمد الأولى إلى الشمال.

بصرى الشام

the caravan reached Busra in Syria
. When the caravan reached Busra in Syria, it broke the journey
for a short stay and while there, they met a monk by the name of Bahira'who lived in his cell. Bahira' saw the caravan in the distance and was amazed to see that over it was a large white cloud. It was the only cloud in a clear blue sky and it appeared to be shading one of the travellers. The monk was even more surprised to see that the cloud seemed to follow the caravan but disappeared when the person it was shading sat down under a tree. Bahira' knew from the scriptures that a prophet was expected to come after Jesus and it had been his wish to see this prophet before he died.

عندما وصلت القافلة إلى بصرى في سوريا توقفت لاستراحة قصيرة و هناك قابلوا الراهب بَحيرة الذي كان يعيش في صومعته.عندما رأى بَحيرة القافلة من على بعد ,كان مندهشا لرؤيته سحابة بيضاء كبيرة فوق القافلة.لقد كانت السحابة الوحيدة وسط سماءٍ صافية زرقاء و بدت و كأنها تظلل أحد المسافرين.و اندهش الراهب بشدة لرؤيته هذه السحابة و كأنها تتبع القافلة لكنها تختفي عندما يستظل ذلك المسافر بظل شجرة.عرف بحيرة من الكتاب المقدس بأن نبيا ً سيأتي بعد عيسى و كانت أمنيته أن يرى هذا النبي قبل موته

He came out against his practice, to welcome the merchants and made a great feast for them. The Arabs were surprised because they often passed by and Bahira' had never invited them before. When the group was all together for the meal, the monk said, 'Is this everyone?' 'No', someone said, 'a boy was left watching the camels.' Bahira' insisted that the boy should join them. The boy was Muhammad (peace be upon him). When he arrived Bahira' said nothing, but watched him all through the meal. He noticed many things about his appearance which fitted the description in the old manuscripts. Later on he took him aside and asked Muhammad (peace be upon him) many questions. He soon found out how he felt about the idols in the Ka'bah. When Bahira tried to make him swear by them, as the Arabs used to do, Muhammad (peace be upon him) said, 'There is nothing in this world that I hate more'. They talked together about Allah and about Mohammed's life and family. What was said made Bahira certain that this was indeed the Prophet who would come after Jesus. Then the monk went to Abu Talib and asked him how he was related to Muhammad (peace be upon him). Abu Talib told him that Muhammad (peace be upon him) was his son. Bahira replied that this could not be so because the boy was destined to grow up an orphan, he observed in him the signs of the Prophethood that he had known and advised Abu Talib: Return to your home with this youth and guard him from the Jews; for great dignity awaits your nephew. Abu Talib immediately took the Prophet peace be upon him back to Mecca by virtue of Bahira'advice

جاء بحيرة ليرحب بالتجار خلافا لعادته و يدعوهم إلى وليمة كبيرة.اندهش العرب لذلك لأنهم طالما كانوا يمرون ببَحيرة الراهب و لم يدعوهم إلى شيء من قبل.عندما اجتمع القوم للوليمة سأل الراهب: هل كلكم هنا؟ فقال البعض:لا,إلا صبياً تركناه يحرس الإبل.فأصر بَحيرة على أن ينضم إليهم هذا الغلام و كان ذلك الغلام هو محمد صلى الله عليه و سلم . و عندما وصل لم يتفوه بَحيرة بشيء بل راقبه طوال فترة الوليمة.فلاحظ عدة أشياء عن مظهره و التي توافق وصف المخطوطات القديمة.فيما بعد أخذه جانبا و سأله عدة أسئلة.حالا عرف شعوره تجاه الأصنام الموجودة في الكعبة و ذلك عندما حاول جعل النبي صلى الله عليه و سلم أن يقسم بهم ,كما كانت تفعل العرب,فقال محمد صلى الله عليه و سلم بأنه ما كره شيئا في هذه الدنيا أكثر منها.ثم تحدثا سويةً عن الله و عن حياة محمد و عائلته.كل ما قد قيل جعل بَحيرة متأكدا أكثر بأن هذا الغلام هو حقاً النبي الذي سيأتي بعد عيسى.توجه الراهب الى أبو طالب و سأله ما هي صلته بمحمد فأخبره أبو طالب بأن محمد ابنه.أجاب بحيرة بأن هذا لا يمكن أن يحدث لأنه مقدرٌ على هذا الغلام أن ينشأ يتيماً.و عرف فيه آثار النبوة و نصح أبو طالب قائلا:عد إلى بيتك مع هذا الشاب و احرسه من اليهود لان شرفا عظيما يتنظر ابن أخيك هذا.و من ثم عاد أبو طالب مع النبي صلى الله عليه و سلم إلى مكة بمقتضى نصيحة بَحيرة.

There are many stories told about Mohammed's youth. Some tell of how he used to take the family's sheep to graze and was always kind to them. While they grazed he would sit thinking about the mysteries of nature. Unlike those around him, he never worshipped the idols and never swore by them.
He also wondered why people were always struggling for power and money, and this saddened him and made him feel lonely, but he kept his feelings to himself. He was a quiet, thoughtful boy, and rarely played with other boys of his age.
On one occasion, however, Muhammad (peace be upon him) went with some of the boys to a wedding in Mecca. When he reached the house he heard the sounds of music and dancing but just as he was about to enter he suddenly felt tired and, sitting down, fell asleep. He didn't wake up until late the next morning and thus missed the celebrations. In this way Allah prevented him from doing anything foolish for He was keeping Muhammad (peace be upon him) for something much more important.

تحدثت قصص عديدة عن فترة الشباب التي عاشها محمد صلى الله عليه و سلم.فقد أخبرنا البعض كيف كان يرعى ماشية العائلة و كم كان رحيما بهم.بينما كانت الماشية ترعى كان يجلس و يتفكر في غموض الطبيعة.و خلافا عمن حوله,لم يعبد الأصنام أبدا و لم يقسم بهم أبدا.
كما أنه كان يتساءل لماذا الناس في صراع دائم من أجل السلطة و المال و هذا ما جعله يشعر بالحزن و الوحدة, إلا أنه احتفظ بهذه المشاعر لنفسه. كان فتىً هادئا و مفكرا, و نادراً ما كان يلعب مع أطفال آخرين في سنه.
على أية حال,ذهب محمد صلى الله عليه و سلم مرةً مع بعض الفتية إلى عرس في مكة.عندما وصل المنزل-حيث العرس-سمع أصوات الموسيقى و الرقص و عندما همّ بالدخول شعر فجأة بالتعب فجلس و غطّ في النوم و لم يستيقظ حتى صباح اليوم التالي و هكذا فقد الحفل.و بهذه الطريقة منعه الله عز و جل من الإقدام على فعل أي شيء أخرق لان سبحانه كان يدخر محمد صلى الله عليه و سلم لشيء أكثر أهمية و عظمة.

DIVINE TUTELAGE

Heavenly Host had made special arrangements for broadening the mind of the holy Prophet and had taken particular care to shut off the faults and failures of the pagan past from him. Since early youth, the reserved and unassuming young man was known for his gentle disposition and grave purity of life as well as for his candidness, honesty and integrity and his stern sense of duty. His was the straight and narrow path and none could find the slightest fault with him. The faircharacter and honorable bearing of the Prophet peace be upon him won for him, in the pinnacle of his youth, the title of Al-Amin, meaning the Trusty, from his fellow populace.(Ibn Hisham, Vol. I, p. 183)

Evil were the ways of young men in Mecca, and no misconduct brought anybody into jeopardy or accountability. But God helped His Prophet abandon the pleasures of life familiar to everybody in there. Such that on the contrary, he was rather kind to his kinsmen, alleviated the sufferings of others and spared or minimized expenses to meet their needs. Moreover, he entertained guests, was ever willing to join hands with anybody who had a noble and virtuous task and prefered to earn his livelihood by toiling hard for it even if it meant living a simple life to the point of austerity

الوصاية الإلهية:
أعدت عدالة السماء ترتيبا ً خاصا لتوسيع أفق عقل النبي صلى الله عليه و سلم النقي و بذل العناية الخاصة لإغلاق أخطاء و فشل الوثنية بعده.فمنذ حداثة سنه, عُرف هذا الشاب المحفوظ و المتواضع بمزاجه الوديع و نقاء حياته الرزينة بالإضافة إلى صراحته ووضوحه.كما عرفه الناس بأمانته و استقامته و إحساسه القوي بالواجب.و كان هذا الواجب هو الطريق المستقيم كما أنه لا يمكن أن يجد أحد فيه أدنى نقيصة .لقد نصرته سيرته الحسنة و سلوكه المشّرف في ذروة شبابه.لُقب بـ"الأمين " أي الذي يثق به الناس.(ابن هشام.المجلد 1 صفحة 183)

و كانت وسائل الشر متاحة لشباب مكة.و لم يجلب سوء الخلق أي شخص منهم نحو التهلكة أو المساءلة لكن الله عز وجل ساعد نبيه على ترك متع الحياة المألوفة لأي شخص هناك.بل على العكس, كان في الواقع شفيقا بأقاربه و يخفف معاناة الآخرين و يصفح عنهم و يقلل من نفقاته ليلبي احتياجاتهم.علاوة على ذلك,كان يكرم الضيف كما كان على استعداد دائم للانضمام لاي شخص من ذوي المهام النبيلة والأعمال الفاضلة.كسب معيشته بالكدح حتى لو كان ذلك يعني عيش حياة بسيطة إلى حد التقشف.
